The interactive installation pays homage to one of the most intense spaces of social encounter and collective experience – the disco. But in this disco no DJ rocks the crowd, the collective sets the tone. Inspired by experiences of displacement and collective self organization in the recent refugee crisis Rodrigo Albornoz creates a stage for the most universal and joyful form of communication: Dancing.
Rodrigo N. Albornoz (AR/NL) studied fine arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam where he is currently working and living. With his works he explores the boundaries between personal and social, private and public while dealing with reality that could turn into fiction. His works are characterized by the combination of different media like film, performance, photography and sound.
